One of the things that many users miss inside the current 1.7 Version of Affinity Designer is the Image to Vector Tracing Tool. Although it is not wise to have a blanket approach to every pixel bases image, It is a big help if you have a difined image, like a logo that you trying to trace and can do so with the help of software.

Affinity is yet to include power tracing capabilities in their apps and we are anxiously waiting for it because it will happen. No need to leave Affinity Designer to create a Tracing Cut Out inside of Affinity Designer. An often overlooked feature in AD, hidden in the Pixel Persona. Select - Refine - Mask and away we go.
Especially for those of you without Affinity Photo, here is a great fast selection option.

Having the ability to trace vector copies of your images is a standard feature of any vectors graphics software. For Affinity Designer users though, we're out of luck. Designer, for whatever reason, does not possess the ability to do this. Although there's no auto image trace feature built in, you can still do vector image tracing with Affinity Designer using the Pen Tool.

This tutorial shows you how to make killer vector line art on your iPad using your graphic app’s Share to Adobe Capture. Auto Trace feature is still missing in my favorite Affinity Designer so I have decided to use the Vectornator instead. Auto Trace feature can be used to convert your scanned drawings and Procreate digital art into scalable vector images.

The first version of Affinity Designer was released in October 2014, making it the first of the Affinity apps to be released by Serif. Almost 8 years have passed and there are some key features still missing. If Serif wants AD to be a true competitor to Adobe Illustrator they need to add these 5 features.
