Affinity Designer 1.7 using sidecar in the macOS Catalina and iPad OS betas. Apple's done a fantastic job of this - even when connected wirelessly there's no real detectable lag. That makes this a fantastic graphic tablet, being able to take advantage of Pencil pressure and other dynamics. Especially as you can take it away from your desk and keep working on the sofa ;) Apple are releasing this update in the Autumn, and we'll be sure to be doing some cool optimisations for it too!

In this session I demonstrate how to use sidecar with iPad and Mac so that you can draw in the Affinity design suite using your iPad. I show you how to adjust your settings to eliminate lag; hopefully helping you can get the most out of your tablet and the experience. After everything is set up and connected, I give a brief demonstration, and talk a little about my personal experience.

What's really cool about this is that I was able to use my iPad as a drawing tablet with Affinity's entire design suite using Affinity Publisher's studio link.I was happy to see that with virtually no lag, the drawing experience was really nice! It was a lot of fun, and I hope you guys enjoy!

Sidecar is a new features in MacOS Catalina. It turns your iPad into a second screen. As a screen it's great. As a drawing tablet I was disappointed, it doesn't seem like the input from the Apple pencil makes it to the Mac fast enough.

In this video, Terry White shows how to use your iPad or iPad Pro with Apple Pencil as a graphics tablet on your Mac. The feature is called Sidecar and works with Mac OS Catalina 10.15.x. You'll want an iPad and Apple Pencil as well as a Mac running Catalina to make this work.

In this video I demonstrate the difference between Procreate and Affinity designer on iPad Pro. These are very different iPad apps that have some very great functionality. I feel like Procreate runs better on my 1st generation iPad. Affinity Designer seems to use more resources to run. Maybe it's because my iPad Pro is having problems, maybe not. If anyone else is experiencing crashes, freezes and a disconnecting Apple Pencil and knows how to fix it. Please let me know.
