Perfect for cold, rainy stretches, The Ultralight Rain Mitts keep your paws dry. Warm also, when used with a liner glove. We recommend lightweight Possum-down gloves. If you're new to lighter gear, working your way towards ultralight or going on a desert winter backpacking trip, this lightweight backpacking gear list keeps comfort and warmth in mind without an extreme base weight in either direction.

This is the gear I brought on a January trip of the 80 mile Black Canyon National Recreation Trail in central Arizona. The BCT took me five days, and I had to cache my own water--due to a lack of resources regarding how much/if any water would be out there. I learned a lot from this trip - mostly about the kind of gear I DON'T want to carry.

The exact base weight comes out to 11.41 lbs.
