UX can be a great job, until it becomes horrible. It's definitely not for everyone and it's not even about learning Figma, or the Design Thinking process. Is 2022 a good year to become a UX designer? Yes and No.

Prof. Shrikant Ekbote is a design practitioner turned academician with 25 years of Industry experience. He is an alumnus of prestigious IDC School of Design at IIT, Mumbai and has a very diverse experience in multiple industry verticals like manufacturing, telecom and banking.

He started his career as an industrial designer working with manufacturing and automotive companies. His pursuit for constant learning made him to learn Interaction design and transition as an Interaction (UX) design professional.

In his career as UX designer, he has transitioned from a more hands-on designer to more strategic roles and he was also responsible for setting up UX design teams for global MNCs in India. He has also been engaged as design mentors with various start-up accelerator programs.

Besides his core job as UX design professional, Shrikant also has keen interest in design education and has been having active engagement with various design schools as external jury, visiting faculty and member of the board of studies.

Continuing his endeavor for constant learning, he is currently pursuing his Doctoral Research with Department of Design, IIT Guwahati.
