The transformation of the Monterey Conference Center reinvigorates an economic driver for Monterey and restores the 40-year-old facility as a hub of activity in the heart of downtown. The building and new civic plaza facilitate connection—linking people and ideas, history and place, and a community to its future.

The jury was pleased that the original building was not torn down; instead, the project is transformative and turns a service area into a wonderful civic space. The approach shows restraint with texture and materials while breaking down the scale and inviting the outdoors into the exciting second floor logia, all while exercising thoughtfulness about the surrounding community. It is a success architecturally as well as urbanistically.

Remastered Perfection
This home is perfectly remodeled for the most discerning tastes.

The space is open with a balanced flow between the living room, dining room and sit-up kitchen bar. Custom-built LoNardo's cabinetry with minimalist design is accentuated with Caesarstone countertops in the kitchen, bathrooms and laundry room. Bosch stainless steel appliances in the kitchen include: a dual-fuel self-cleaning range, dishwasher, counter-depth French door refrigerator, microwave with range vent.

The master bedroom features a walk-in closet and a luxurious master bathroom with a soaker tub and curbless shower.

The home's high ceilings and bright open floorplan along with LED lighting allows for mood setting. Stylish George Nelson bubble lamp light fixtures are in kitchen and master bath. An integrated multi-zone Russound audio system streams music throughout the three Polk in-wall speaker areas and the 800 square foot deck that extends the living space for entertaining.

The peaceful garden provides a venue for reflection, relaxation and rejuvenation. New redwood beds, automated drip irrigation and outdoor garden lighting have been installed. Other new home updates include Andersen E-Series double-pane aluminum-clad windows and doors, automatic garage doors, new electrical and integrated data wiring, new copper plumbing, new gutters and downspouts along with indoor/ outdoor painting. The home was remodeled under the guidance of Lehman Design Studio.

Conveniently located, 71 Via Encina is walking distance to downtown Monterey, Whole Foods and Del Monte Center. This central location places you minutes from Carmel, Pacific Grove and the rest of the Monterey Peninsula for shopping, dining, the beach, recreational facilities, and the workplace.

The Audi skysphere concept will make its public debut on August 13, 2021, as part of Monterey Car Week – on the legendary fairways of the Pebble Beach golf course. This means the vehicle’s unveiling in California is taking place more or less on its home turf. This is because the concept car was conceived and designed at the Audi Design Studio in Malibu, just a stone’s throw away from the Pacific Coast Highway, the legendary coastal road that connects the suburbs of Los Angeles with northern California. Studio manager Gael Buzyn and his team are the creative minds behind the project. A legendary classic model from the company’s own history – the Horch 853 roadster – served as the inspiration for the new groundbreaking model. The impressive convertible, which is also around 5.20 meters in length, was not only the definition of modern luxury in the 1930s, but also won the Concours d’Elegance in Pebble Beach in 2009.

But the visual inspiration from its predecessor is limited to the concept car’s dimensions and typical proportions with a rather compact cabin and long front end. A look under the hood of the Horch reveals an imposing straight-eight engine with a displacement of 5 liters. The Audi skysphere, on the other hand, mainly has electric drive components between the front axle and the windshield, such as the charger and the DC/DC converter, plus the actuators and electronic and mechanical components for the adaptive wheelbase. It also features a spacious trunk filled with two golf bags specially designed for the concept car.
