I've seen lots of speed builds, but I decided to record when I design. And this series is my backyard retreat and pool design series...

I have several hundred homes and I beem wanting to take as many as I can and redesign their backyards to my own. So instead of just showing them off when they are completed, I decided to record the process. I think people will enjoy these for inspiration and you may learn something also...

Pretty soon I'll even start talking on my videos.. For now I just have a bunch of projects to push out and design some cool pool backyard areas! This is my favorite thing to do!

A family above ground swimming pool with dimensions 2.5m x 3.5m x 1m. The Pool designed using Sketchup application with Vray. This is a Part 1 tutorial video, Part 2 coming soon.

Pool Designers are always looking for the latest and greated 3D rendering programs. Today we evaluate Lumion 10 and give a crash course on how to import 3D objects from sketchup into Lumion to create 3D renderings for your pool clients.

Lumion 10 is taking the industry be storm and today we will walk you through how to do the following:

1) How to import from Sketchup into Lumion
2) How to create a walkthrough video
3) How to set filters and the basic controls of the interface

Upon using Lumion 10 to create my 3D rendering, I found that it's pretty user friendly but doesn't offer anywhere near the amount of functionality that Pool Studio offers. In terms of creating a sophisticated 3D rendering inside Lumion, the program offers some really cool features but you are limited by the 3D that you start with and you will not be able to create 3D objects inside Lumion like you can in Structure Studio.

I've seen some magnificent examples of Lumion Pool Renderings, but let me clarify, if your CAD object is trash, Lumion is NOT going to magically make it look amazing. If you expect that to be the case you will be sadly disappointed.

However, if you have great 3D to start with, Lumion can put it on steroids and make it look absolutely breathtaking. This video isn't going to teach you how to do that, but it's a pretty good walk through of the program and an honest assessment of how it will be perceived after being trialed by pool designers.
