Fun fact: The second largest UIL competition in the state of Texas is One Act Play (just under football). It is THE largest theater competition of its kind in the world. Almost EVERY SINGLE public high school in Texas participates. SO….why in the hell isn’t there an application dedicated to designing shows for these schools?
Fun fact #2: Houston and Dallas were both rated in the top 14 cities in the entire United States as biggest theater cities. There is a ton of theater in Texas.
That is why I built this stupid presentation. To convince you that this project is for an app that people want/need/love.My app would:- Allow users to 3-dimensionally place set pieces on a virtual stage to the dimensions of their choosing.
- Allow users to share their designs through saved files, or online in the app so other directors could view/save/comment on them.
- Would have super easy to use tools to clamp, rotate, place, flip, stand - whatever you could PHYSICALLY do with the set pieces, you can do in the app.
- Allow users to record the actors movement on the stage, much like a recording, so that directors can send actors movement notes even when they don’t meet in person.
- Allow designers to design sets faster, easier, and to their wildest dreams.

Developing a stage design often suffers from difficulties when trying to visualise the result before the actual build.
In German speaking countries the so called "Bauprobe" (set rehearsal) is there to minimise wrong planning by giving a first impression of a mockup stage.
But even then during the design process virtual models and computer aded design attempts can help.

First Stage first-stage.eu is aiming to support stage designers and scenographers in their process. It's a virtual reality solution developed by a number of European institutions.

There is also an almost free possibility to pre-visualise your spacial show designs using blender and some cheap google cardboard like VR-goggles

Baz Halpin (Show Director, Co-Show Designer) and Alex Reardon (Co-Show Designer / Lighting Designer) of Silent House have developed an ultra stylish and colorful stage design for singer Khalid. Production Manager and FoH Audio Engineer CJ Blair and Lighting Director Jonathan Camarillo give EventElevator brief glimpse into the key elements of the energetic and free spirited stage design and audio techniques.

The design has been adapted for the smaller Europe venues but the style still retains the key-look of Silent House featuring a massive lighting rig with 75 Ayrton MagicBlade-FX, 80 ROBE BMFL Washbeams, GLP Impression X4s and lots of TMB Solaris Flares.

Blender 2.8 Tutorial showing the entire process of creating a Magic Stage. We will start by modeling the walls and stage. Then we create a golden railing using Bezier Curves, after that we create a Tablecloth with Blender's Cloth Physics. We place a Genie Lamp into our scene by importing a FBX file. We also will create golden columns and other minor ornaments. Finally we create a Curtain making use of Vertex Group and Shape Keys.
To finish this lesson we will show how to render an animation out of our Scene using the EEVEE renderer.
