I wanted to share my experience transitioning from Financial Services to UX Design. This part talks about just my personal experience. I will upload a second and third video with a review for the General Assembly UXDI Bootcamp and detailing that experience, as well as my job search after to landing a job including connecting with industry professionals, job applications, cover letters, and interviews etc!

PLEASE UNDERSTAND: UX Bootcamps WILL NOT land you a job as a UX / Product Designer. They are there for you to learn and build an understanding of what UX is. In most of my interviews, I spent less than 5% of time discussing anything related to UX Bootcamps, or my experience in one.

UX design itself is one of those things that you want to be clear about doing. It's different than graphic design or UI design, and more closely related to CX, or customer experience. In terms of courses, no. The courses you want to focus on are part of IBM's Enterprise Design Thinking curriculum.

Chris Nave, PhD is the Associate Director of the Master of Behavioral and Decision Sciences Program at the University of Pennsylvania. We caught up with Chris at the NoBeC conference (Norms and Behavioral Change Conference) at UPenn. NoBeC brought together some of the brightest researchers in the field and we got to attend!

The Master of Behavioral and Decision Sciences program is in its 3rd year with 75 students from 12 countries. The students come from jobs in restaurants, fire stations, small businesses, and global corporations and they intend to leave UPenn with an understanding of what it means to be a behavioral scientist, but not actually BE one.

We met Chris through our friend, Jeff Kreisler, and we instantly connected as members of the same tribe. But it was even cooler when Chris invited us to attend the conference and to record conversations with some of the researchers.

This episode is the cornerstone of the series we recorded at the University of Pennsylvania and we are excited to share an over of the master’s program from Chris Nave.

Product managers drive the vision, strategy, design, and execution of their product. While one can often quickly comprehend the basic responsibilities of the role, mastering each of these dimensions is truly an art form that one is constantly honing. In this presentation I'll share my lessons learned over the last decade as a product manager in Silicon Valley on the art behind each of these dimensions of product management.

Sachin Rekhi is a serial entrepreneur and product leader who has spent the last decade developing innovative products in Silicon Valley.

Sachin most recently founded Connected, a professional contact manager that was acquired by LinkedIn in 2011 and re-launched as LinkedIn Contacts. He went on become head of product for LinkedIn Sales Navigator, LinkedIn's flagship offering for sales professionals.

Prior to Connected, Sachin founded Anywhere.FM, a web music player that allowed users to upload, play, and discover music online, which was acquired by imeem in 2008. Sachin started his career at Microsoft as a product lead on Visual Studio, Microsoft's developer tools platform.

Sachin recently left LinkedIn and has been advising early-stage startups on product strategy, design, and growth.
