Some articles will tell you otherwise, but you don’t need to know coding as a UX designer, especially if you’re just starting off in your design career. Designers who know more than basic HTML mainly learn code to get a better understanding of front-end development.

User experience (UX) design is the process design teams use to create products that provide meaningful and relevant experiences to users. This involves the design of the entire process of acquiring and integrating the product, including aspects of branding, design, usability and function.

“User Experience Design” is often used interchangeably with terms such as “User Interface Design” and “Usability”. However, while usability and user interface (UI) design are important aspects of UX design, they are subsets of it – UX design covers a vast array of other areas, too. A UX designer is concerned with the entire process of acquiring and integrating a product, including aspects of branding, design, usability and function. It is a story that begins before the device is even in the user’s hands.

In this episode, Robert is joined by Jason Beres of Infragistics, who walks us through indigo.design ( infragistics.com/products/indigo-design), a platform for the visual design, UX prototyping and code generation of Angular apps. He shows how you can create designs in Sketch ( sketchapp.com/) using a variety of pre-built UI components and patterns, share them with others on any device and then generate your app's code.

What does a UX designer actually do? In this video, we’ll look at the key skills and attributes of a user experience designer, alongside some of the tasks and responsibilities that they would typically undertake in a UX design role.

Dee Scarano, an experienced UX / UI designer, will also look at a number of tangible job roles within the industry, ranging from a small startup to a large corporate, to examine and understand what criteria employers are looking for when hiring UX designers.
